A series of mixed-media works now live permanently within Musaffer and Saaqi, a celebrated speakeasy bar in New York City that has quietly become one of the most considered South Asian cultural spaces in the country. The commission took time to realise. The space demanded work that could hold its own against the intimacy and theatre of the setting rooms designed to make you forget the world outside. My pieces had to belong there completely.
